Ren (
songbirdren ) has transcribed the entire Q&A here
We’re live now...how fun.
So, I’ve never done this before. Let’s see how this works.
Mhey!
Mhey!
Uh hi!
*laughs*
So, this a a Q/A song request thing. Hi!
What’s that?
Lots of heys, lots of heys.
Sing old man. Hmmm, don’t remember that song.
Buffalo maybe back there. *laughs*
So many things… I don’t….
Does anyone have a question? I’m seeing a lot of heys and um uh, a lot of I hope you’re doing great and stuff.
There we go.
Thank you.
Ok so *laughs* there’s so many things! I don’t know how to….aww
Uh huh. Mmm. Mmm. Uh…
Alright so Jamie Lynn, I do think the Hide Your Ghost album will be better than the last one. That’s the first question answered, you guys are welcome.
This thing keeps popping up on my screen. Alright, what else we got? Alright…
*laughs*
There’s so many things, I’m not a fast reader guys.
Alright, we’ll start with song requests. Request some songs and I’ll decide if I wanna sing it, and then we’ll get back to the Q/A. How about that?
Are you guys able to hear me? Is that a yes? Huh.
Hmm. Hmm. HMM.
YES! The song requests! *laughs*
Oh man.
I’m getting requests for Old Man but I don’t remember how to sing old man, so that’s not likely to happen.
Alright so I see Gasoline, I can play that song. I’m assuming you guys can hear me because it seems like you can. Alright.
*sings gasoline*
Ta daaa! *laughs* Alright so I assume all of you could hear that. Ok that’s a good sign, from all the comments saying I love your voice, I’m assuming you guys can hear my voice so that’s a plus. Alright! *laughs*
So, now this is in support of basically the Hide Your Ghost Tour, which I’m gonna be going on again during.. On the tenth! I don’t keep track of my tour dates so you are going to have to keep track of them. AND this is also in support of the Hide Your Ghost album, which I’m trying to get out by the end of this year.
So, let’s get back to the Q/A I guess. Oh the questions have stopped, maybe my phone is freezing up, oh OH there we go it’s loading.
Thank you. Thank you.
And, this scenery is my fields ya know. Thank you. So many things I have to say thank you for! *laughs*
There’s a question! Wait wait wait… Alright so the purchase the EP things is only gonna be at the shows, so it won’t be able to be bought online or delivered to your house, it’s only gonna be available at the tour dates.
What else, Oh! There’s a question I see one.
Oh wait more questions…
You did hear cows, if I turn my camera over there you’ll see the cows. Do you guys wanna see the cows? I’ll turn it so you guys can see the cows real quick. Da da da da there they are. Can you guys see them? They’re small in there. Nah. Nah. Not not not. Ok.
I’m trying to keep up with the questions.
I am going to Canada. I’m going to Canada very soon, but you’ll have to look at the tour dates, because I don’t know the exact dates.
Hmm, hmm, hm. Hi New Zealand person. Mhmm. Oh wow. So many. Thank you.
I’m getting a lot of requests to go places. OH! There’s some show places! Read that, that’s my mom! *laughs*
Alright. Hmm, hmm…
Alright so Tina? Tina! I am very happy with how it turned out after The Voice, and I enjoyed being on The Voice, and now I get to be out here, being an independent artist, so I’m excited for the future.
We got another one.. Oh!
Deborah, this is a Bourgeois guitar, it is custom made for me, it was a gift from TeamSawyer, and it’s awesome. It’s super super awesome. *laughs*
Uhhh
So… am I going to cut my hair? Probably not. I get it trimmed if that counts, but no, probably not.
ALRIGHT! Let’s do song requests again! Because I’m having a hard time keeping up with all those.
So, unless I get song requests, I’m just gonna start playing a song, and I don’t know what I’m gonna sing, and it might be a song that you guys don’t wanna hear, so…
How many guitars do I have? In working order probably around six working order guitars. *laughs*
Do not cut my hair? Aww. I’m getting a lot of ‘do not cut my hair’
There’s a request for This Fire. I will never cut my hair. Ever. I have Take It All as well but I’d have to remember the lyrics to sing that. So, we’re going with This Fire, because it’s easier.
*sings This Fire*
Ah ha! Thank you for all the hearts. There’s a lot of hearts and the thumbs up ones too! They’re all good. Thumbs up, hearts, laughy faces. Alright.
I’m excited for the EP too. What I’ve done? That’s an eight minute long song, I don’t think people wanna hear an eight minute long song right now. Hmm.
I don’t know how to sing Brown Eyed Girl, neither do I know the lyrics, OR the chords.
Simple man? Simple man huh? Ah. Simple man. Alright I’ll see if I can remember how to play simple man. Then we can get back to the Q/A.
*messes with guitar chords* *sings Simple Man* *stops halfway through*
I forget the lyrics to the second verse. I knew this would happen. They were something. You’ll f-find, AHA I think I remember now.
*finishes the song*
Ta daaa? *laughs* Hooray, people liked it.
Never change. Check. Alright we got Ray LaMontagne.
Well let’s get back to the Q/A seeing how I just played two songs. So… Questions! I’m waiting.
*laughs*
Oh I don’t feel bad about forgetting lyrics, I just laugh. We’re all good there.
Uh huh. Uh huh.
My mom says I’m doing great so that’s a plus.
Are all the songs from the album..merhermerfer *mumbles*
Yes! Yes. So you asked if all the songs on the album are already decided, and yes, yes they are. I just need to finish recording two of them.
Alright I will keep it real… Ren Haberlind?
Thank you. *laughs*
*hums*
Ok so SawyerFredericksFanForum, the quickest song that I wrote was Still Here, and the longest song I wrote was, well the longest song that it took me to write was, um uh, lemme think actually, probably the stairwell song, because I didn’t completely finish that, which is now called Window, but, the stairwell song is a song I was writing while I was on The Voice, but I didn’t finish it until I was back from The Voice, so it took me a really long time to finish that sing, and Still Here was a song...Sometimes songs just kind of flow, that song I worte in about thirty minutes in my room.
Oh that’s another question in hmmm, there’s a thing in the way.
How much touring will you be doing the rest of the year? Well that you can find out by looking at the rest of the tour dates.
What’s your favorite original by Jen Burs? Hmm, I mean the question was by Jen Burs, not the original, um… Well I would say my favorite original that I connect most of mine too is probably A Good Storm, but songs that are a complete like storyline that I’m very happy with how I wrote them would probably be Broken Home.
I do keep in contact with a lot of my Voice friends, actually Gabriel Wolfchild and The Northern Lights are touring with me if you didn’t know, and I also just keep in contact with them through text.
Dadadaaa
*makes beat with mouth*
I did sort of pick the songs I did on The Voice… kind of. I picked them from a list I was provided with.
What was the last album I listened all the way through to? Hmm lemme think. I can’t say I’ve been listening all the way through an album lately. Umm… Uhhhhhh… I think it was probably Alabama Shakes Sound and Color.
Sing one of your songs from The Voice, ah ha.
What song are you going to play? I don’t know what song I’m going to play.
Ok so, Stephen Ryan?? Sorry I couldn’t read the last name. STEPHEN. You asked if there was someone I wanted a duet with and why. So, I don’t particularly have like an idea of like an artist that I wanna like do a duet with or anything because I don’t know these people, I’m very aware that I don’t know these people, and I’m not sure how we would work together. Now there’s also just knowing if, I guess, whether you’re going to sound with it, the other person, so that’s something to think about, mostly for me it’s collaborating and working well together, so there’s nobody where I’m like “I wanna do a duet with you” because I don’t know these people and I don’t know how I would act around them.
Ah ha! Sherri Morse asks, How did you pick your new tour manager? He is my cousin, and he’s great. *laughs*
How’s Tanner? He is probably very sad because he is inside the house and my dad is mowing the field and he can’t be outside because he gets in the way of the tractor, so he’s probably very upset that he can’t see his father. *laughs*
Uhh, Jill, Jill, you asked if it was easier to write songs when I’m bored or when I’m busy, and my kind of busy would not allow me to write songs so I am going to say when I’m bored, of course I can be bored when I’m busy so they kind of go hand in hand. *laughs*
Where’s my musical coconut? Well it’s inside. I don’t have my musical coconut.
Kelly Clarkson is the person who I should do a duet with huh? Strooong guarantee it. Mmm.
Do I still do hay? Yeah! I might even have to unload a wagon tonight, it looks like they’ve got hay off the field already, so you know I would be working right now but instead I’m here, with you guys, and hearing thunder. It’s great that I’m outside, and by a tree! *laughs*
Lies You Tell on album, hahaaa sorry! *laughs*
I do still work around the farm, I was haying a couple days ago.
Where does all the emotion come...from in your write songs… I couldn’t read it fast enough, but I’m pretty sure the gist of it was asking me how do I put the emotion in my songs, or where does the emotion come from, so in answer to that question, well how I write songs is I kind of create a scenario and then try to put myself into that scenario to see how this person would be feeling, and then you try to find out how you want to tell the story, so I guess I have a very good imagination, and am able to imagine what someone’s pain would feel like in that situation. That’s my answer.
Ah! Lori Wagner asks if I have a girlfriend, and I hate to say it to all of you, but I do have a girlfriend. *laughs*
Robin, hi! How’s it goin?
Please? Please.
Window...Sawyer...hmmm
Do I have any bad habits I need to break? Uh I can’t say I have any bad habits, nothing that’s bothering me, so no! What else we got?
Have I ever considered cutting my hair? I have considered cutting my hair.
Thank you. *laughs*
Ahh alright so Sherri Morse, well I know you won’t be able to see me live, but, I’m afraid you’ll just have to wait for the album to be out, or either someone will have to get it for you when they’re at the show.
*sings* Da da daaaaa da da da daaaaa
The one time that I did cut my hair? Umm, I guess when, well I first cut my hair when I was eleven or twelve when I cut my hair, and it was because it was getting in the way of soccer, so it felt good after that, cuz I could play soccer without having my hair in my face.
Tadada, thank you… Cheryl Jackson.
Don’t cut your hair.
You seem relaxed. I am relaxed. Super super calm. It’s also a lot easier to be calm when you’re surrounded by all this. *laughs*
What do I think of Led Zeppelin? It’s cool, cool, cool stuff.
What inspired you to sing? I have always been singing, so, music inspired me to sing I guess, all music. *laughs*
*hums*
*laughs* I can’t say I use any particular face wash, so I guess it’s carved by angels? *laughs*
You are relaxed cuz you are at the farm, I mean I think I would be relaxed anywhere else as long as it wasn’t a stressful place.
Do I have a tour bus? I have a sprinter and I like my life.
Uuuh, my life kinda gets lonely now and then.
Do I have my… Oh! I do have a car, but I do not have my license, because you see this thing I’ve been doing this summer, it’s the Hide Your Ghost Tour, it’s been keeping me busy. *laughs*
Alright so, let’s go back to song requests.
I’m not gonna drive on the tour. I have my learner’s permit! But I’m not licensed to drive a sprinter van with ya know, six other people in it, so no.
So… song requests! Go!
My hair is getting tangled in the wind.
I will be waiting for the song requests. I see a lot of things that aren’t song requests.
Yes Driver’s Ed only lasts two weeks and I have not had two weeks free. *laughs* That would be a luxury!
Collide, I do not know how to sing Collide anymore and my mom has requested Three Little Birds. We have a request for what I’ve done, and another request for Collide, the same person, and the same person again for Collide.
I did make my hair worse? How dare you! It’s way more comfortable now.
*sings in silly voice* Looking out my window…
Uhhh, my audition song..dadada…
So we have two requests for Three Little Birds and two requests for What I’ve Done, and I’m gonna go with Three Little Birds. I just need to make sure I know where to put the capo for this song. Alright.
So, Three Little Birds was the first song I ever learned on guitar, and I’ve been playing it ever since, of course when I first learned it, I didn’t change the melody.
*sings Three Little Birds*
Thank you. *laughs* So I never really decided a time limit for this thing so we’re gonna keep going. *laughs*
So… *hums* What’s my favorite song to sing? I don’t know. I am such a sweet young man? *laughs*
I don’t really know why this is the first time I’ve done Facebook live, you know it’s mostly because I didn’t think I’d like it, but it appears to be alright. I also didn’t know how to do it. I was like on the Facebook page and didn’t see the live thing. Didn’t realize I had to go to pages to do it. I learned something today, and that’s why I’m here!
Oh no. Low battery 20%. That’s not good.
Gotta close that off… there we go.
Alright uh… *hums*
What is my favorite movie? That’s a very hard decision. I’m gonna say Pan’s Labyrinth, either that or most of Quentin Tarantino’s movies.
*hums*
Aww. Aww. Aww. Aww. Thanksssss.
*hums*
What artists do I find inspiration from? Well I mean the closest to my style of music would probably be Ray LaMontagne which is one my favorite artists, but I mean I listen to a very very wide range of music so I kind of… take from all different places. You know I listen a wide range from Bob Marley to Tool, so there’s a big gap there. *laughs*
Aww, dancing to my humming? *hums*
Do you ever thing you will cut your hair? I’m getting a lot of those questions, and I think...at some point… it is likely that I. Will. C u t. My hair. But at the moment, I’m not going to cut my hair, but I’m not going to say that I won’t because then I will probably be a liar in the future. I like to keep my options open.
I have not ever performed with Ray, no I have not. I’ve been to four of his shows though! Sooo, that doesn’t count! *laughs*
*laughs* There’s a lot of questions about my hair, and how short I would cut it, and I don’t know. You know I’m thinking just completely gone, just go bald. That might be interesting. I think I would look really creepy, but it could be interesting. *laughs*
*hums*
Ah! There’s more tour dates! Michigan! Winnipeg! Washington! Something! Long list, don’t feel like reading it. *laughs*
It is a really really nice day here. That’s why I decided to do this outside. Well, it is you know like, I came out here at like 5:55, but it was raining, so, I had to go inside, but then it stopped raining like right before I got out here again, and I was like Ah! I can do it outside now!
Uh huh, questions, Bob Marley, love your voice…
What’s your favorite holiday? My favorite holiday… I can’t say I have a favorite holiday, I’m trying to think of… I guess Thanksgiving? Mostly because I get to see my family more then? Cause Christmas we have to drive down, but Thanksgiving we sometimes do it at my house! So that’s a plus! So Thanksgiving!
*sings in silly voice* Have you ever seen the rain…
Ok, so, *laughs* I think we’re gonna be wrapping this up, but I’ll play one last song for you guys, or, how about, I’ll play two more songs for you guys! How about that?
So my mother suggested that I sing this song, and it is unfinished, doesn’t really have a second verse, but it’s gonna sound like it does, but it doesn’t really. At least not in my mind. It doesn’t have a name yet.
If I'm not broken
I'll only notice once I've broken you
So keep your love and
Don't wait for mine
cause I'm unstable too
No need to lose your mind
I love you Let me cry
Don't want you to take my scars
I want you to tear me apart
So long you've kept me warm
I need you to let me be warm
cause if I'm not broken
I'll only notice once I've broken you
The hard cold truth is the ones you love
will turn their backs on you
No need to waste your time
I love you Let me cry
Don't want you to take my scars
I want you to tear me apart
So long you've kept me warm
I need you to let me be warm
So I wrote a little bit of that on the spot, so, some of those lyrics probably won’t stay! *laughs*
Thank you.
You guys like the bird chirping sounds and the crickets? That’s all part of this. That’s all part of the whole things.
Alright so, just to be kind of official, I’m going to play one more song, and it is called Hide Your Ghost, because this is in support of the Hide Your Ghost tour and the Hide Your Ghost album, and this is the title track on the Hide Your Ghost album. Now just let me make sure my guitar is in tune.
Actually… oh hO HO! OH HO! Foot tambour! *jingles foot* See! It’s the foot tambour!
*pauses* There’s a helicopter. That helicopter often comes by our farm and spooks our cows because it flies too low. It’s a real real annoying thing, but I think most of the cows have gotten used to it. Anyway! Back to the music.
I wanna thank you all for stopping by and having a listen, and asking questions, and I hope that I answered some of them. It was very difficult to keep up with all of them, and, most of them were about my hair but that’s fine. I’m fine with answering questions about my hair. *laughs*
*sings Hide Your Ghost*
So, thank you everyone for stopping by! Check out the tour dates to find out if I might be playing near you, and that’s I think that’s all the official stuff I have to say. Other than that, I hope you you have a wonderful day and I hope you all enjoyed the music, and I hope you answered, well I hope I answered the things that you guys wanted answered. *laughs*
Alright so now, now I have to press this button. Goodbye. If it’ll work. Or maybe it won’t work. Huh.
